Essay: Vulgar Lyrics

The first controversial argument of the paper is about lyrics. The vulgarity of the language used in the culture of hip hop is offensive. Jay Z in his song, ‘Kingdom come’ gives us a small taste of the language used. / The game’s f*****    up/, he says. Dyson neglects to write the expletive in full (xiv-xx). Other musicians use worse language, and they do not hide what they are saying. However the lyrics, although vulgar, sometimes have a meaning, and not all artists have vulgar music. (more…)
