British Airways boasts of being the largest and leading commercial carrier in England operating in one of the busiest airports in the world, Heathrow. The company’s 2009/2010 annual report highlighted the global economic recession as the major hindrance to company growth and development and the effect was felt mostly in 2008 and early 2009. The company is owned by private investors with the British government also having a stake in the company. The company’s chairman is Martin Broughton and the C.E.O is Willie Walsh who has been in office since 2005, with Keith Williams being the Chief Financial Officer.  The company also has seven non-executive directors (British Airways, 2010).
