Students Nonattendance Essay - Students’ nonattendance is a problem that extends much further than the school. It affects the student, the family, and the community. Truancy has been labeled one of the top 10 major problems in this country's schools, negatively affecting the future of our youth (Epsten, et al 2002, 28(7), 7-15.).
In fact, absentee rates have reached as high as 30% in some cities. The statistics speak for themselves. According to the literature, about 2,775 primary pupils and 4,624 secondary students played a part in truant behavior at some point in the county last year (Morgan, 2003).

Role-taking or being able to put oneself in another person's shoes is a complex cognitive-affective activity that is critical to gaining further knowledge of and compassion for others (Shantz, 1975).

Truancy Essay - In many neighborhoods across the United States, truancy is a significant concern. Compulsory schooling is governed by state legislation in every state. Noncompliance has consequences for the truant student's parent(s) or guardian(s). The majority of states mandate children to attend kindergarten until they are at least 16 years old.

In March 1960, a freighter by the name of La Coubre exploded killing around 75 people in Havana and this ended in increasing tensions between the two countries. Castro accused the USA of sinking the vessel and the same month President Dwight D.
Eisenhower signed into law an agreement to have the CIA train Cuban refugees to overthrow the Cuban government. President John F. Kennedy rejected a plan to land the dissidents in Trinidad and “the CIA suggested a new area, the Bahia de Cochinos, Bay of Pigs” (Weeks 124). This led to the Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961 but it did not succeed.

At two years, language development is more advanced. A child is able to name and number common objects on site. Apart from using common nouns, a child is now able to factor in the use of a number of prepositions including in, under, over, on which are mostly used to combine words into short, intelligible sentences.

Assessing a child’s language and communication abilities is very instrumental in deciding what kind of programs to use in helping such children to cope with their disabilities (Gambell & Yang, 2003, p. 19). These programs should aim at assisting the child to improve on his or her language abilities and further focus on improving communication with other people.
