Information technology is not limited to the internet. People are still pondering upon the power of the influence of various media forms on society as a whole. Antonio Negri label and define the information society as one in which people do immaterial labor, which means the production of knowledge and culture. The only issue with this definition is that it ignores the importance of materials and industry within society. Now a day, publishers only publish their best authors in order to ignore the rest. Films are becoming more and more judged on the performance they have made in the first week after their release. James R. Beniger defines the importance of information in the modern society by saying, “The need for sharply increased control that resulted from the industrialization of material processes through the application of inanimate sources of energy probably accounts for the rapid development of automatic feedback technology in the early industrial period”  additionally stating, “Even with enhanced feedback control, the industry could not have developed without the enhanced means to process matter and energy, not only as inputs of the raw materials of production but also as outputs distributed to final consumption.” An economist named Fritz Machlup was the first person to develop the idea of the information society. In 1933, he commenced studying the effects of patents on research. His work was concluded in the study “The production and distribution of knowledge in the United States” in 1962. The problems of technologies and their role in society have been discussed in a scientific manner with the use of concepts and labels.
