Yalom also made different contributions to the concept of group dynamics from a psychological point of view. He places great emphasis on the interactions within the group and the various issues that the group is meant to address. In his approach, he discourages the group members from talking about any issues in their past as they only derail the recovery process.
Furthermore, he also discourages the members from talking about any issues or events that could be happening outside the group context because they divert their attention from the basic goals.
In incidences where one group member presents a problem with interaction, the particular member is advised to find another member within the group who resembles the person with whom the member would interact in his or her daily life.
