Madame Loisel takes all the money that her husband has been saving for a gun to buy a dress for the party. She is married to a man of middle social class who is not in a position to offer everything that she wants. Her husband is willing to offer her everything he can afford. One day her husband comes home with two tickets to a fancy ball. Her husband expects her to be happy but she says “And what do you suppose I am to wear at such an affair?”(2). She does not appreciate the fact that the function is for a select group but she is unhappy with the type of dresses she owns. Her husband tells asks her “Why, the dress you go to the theatre in. It looks very nice, to me . . .”(2).
