Life after prison for men not only in the UK but also all over the world has been a little bit more difficult compared to that of women. This fact can be attributed more on the psychology make up differences between the two sexes. Women have been found to secure employment much easier after incarceration compared to men because of psychological differences in trauma from upheavals both sexes encounter.

Psychosocial damages suffered by men make them shy away from the public hence greatly reducing their chances of getting a job. Most men would choose to rather remain underground socially and rather not risk exposing their past records to avoid intimidation. Women on the other hand can easily cope with this situation thus placing them selves in a better position to be employed. Availability of criminal records and denial combines very well in sustaining hibernation of male ex-convicts from the field of employment. Men have shown high levels of denial than women thus the less numbers of men likely to seek employment after prison.

Male chauvinism is also a major stimulant of psychological damages that affect male ex-offenders making them develop a feeling of superiority thus ignoring the general belief that one can change and secure a lucrative job after incarceration. Most males have a tendency to assume it does not necessarily mean one should have to be treated as a person under rehabilitation by the society, but would rather try living their lives as if nothing happened. This blocks their avenues to employment thus making it difficult for them to get jobs.
