Thus populations tended to be concentrated around factories. Consequently, the growth of populations in specific areas led to overpopulation, which in turn, resulted in poverty levels shooting up. On the other hand, the rise of towns and major cities was catapulted by the same reason.

Migration and concentration of workers in these places meant that all the important social services would be brought to them as well, thus growing the cities in every aspect.[1]
