Essay: Brandy is Fermented Fruit Juice

Brandy is a product of fermented and distilled fruit juices. It is later put in oak casks for aging which also adds color to it. If the color is not properly set, caramel is added to the brandy. Gin comes from alcohol, flavorings and water which is fermented and distilled. It does not need aging to improve the taste hence it directly bottled. The final type of spirit is liqueur which is made from combining brandy with sugar and flavorings such as fruits, herbs or flowers. Water and alcohol may also be combined with sugar and flavoring then fermented and distilled to produce liqueur. It is consumed in small quantities often after meals like dinner (Lichine, 1987, p.709).
