Due to the impact of stereotypes and prejudices that have led to discrimination against the African Americans and the Asian Americans, there has been a very big impact in the inter-group relations in America. Almost all the minority groups in the country feel insecure in the presence of the white Americans.
Socialization and inter-group processes have been affected by the phenomena of prejudice and stereotypes. People of different ethnic and racial backgrounds can no longer interact with each other. Social functions are no longer inter-grouped, institutions of higher learning have became racially grouped, social amenities are still racially grouped as well as in the health sector. This has created a form of enmity among racial and ethnic groups and occasional conflicts as well as violence (Dovidio & Gartner, 1999).
