Essay: Buber is an Existential Thinker

Buber is an example of an existential thinker whose theory on dialogue and education indicates a possible relationship with the interactionist theory of education. Buber argues that a person’s overall character and personality is natured and developed from the interaction he/she has with the environment (Utazi, 2010). A person who is good at initiating dialogue develops a manipulative character over those who struggle to initiate dialogue and socialize with others. The development of these two kinds of people is quite different. People who interact less, especially through dialogue are able to discover their potentials, and develop their personalities from the series of disappointing experiences in their lives.
